Let’s face it, almost all of us have been through that. Having resigned from the previous job, floating from one interview to another one, hoping you can land ‘The One’. But with the current pandemic which is still devastating the world’s economy, finding a job might be harder than finding a four leaves clover. However, not all hopes are lost just because you suddenly find yourself with plenty of free time. Here are some things you can do to keep yourself busy.

Stick to a schedule

Try to create a schedule and stick to it. This is important to ensure productivity and to maintain your mental health. Setting an alarm and wakes up at the same time every day. Try to create a to-do list and complete it. This can prevent you from wallowing in your sadness and getting you to depress. It also helps from lowering your self-esteem.

Attend an online class

When you have more time on your hands, utilise it and repolish your skills. Or, you can take the chance to learn new skills. With all the new skills you’ve acquired, it will make you a more attractive candidate during a job hunt. Be it writing, photography, video editing, or public speaking, gaining new skills or strengthening your existing skills is a productive way to improve yourself.

Get a temporary job

When the going gets tough, the tough get going. If you need are in immediate need of money, try to get any temporary job to sustain yourself. There is a few jobs that one can do. For example, food delivery rider or a Grab driver. This is some of the jobs that you can consider taking on in the meantime. They provide flexible working hours, giving you time in between for job interviews and job search.

Keep yourself healthy

While the stress about being unemployed may weigh heavily on your mind, but it is important to keep your mind and body healthy at the same time. Although going out now during this pandemic might be worrying for some, you can consider doing indoor exercise to keep a healthy physique and mental balance. Take a break once a while between job search. Studies show that it can reduce anxiety and increase focus. Yoga is a great exercise that can be done indoor, not only it will help loosen muscle, but it can also help keep your mind healthy.
